Mechanicsburg Morgan Cupp In My Words

This was a very interesting week, to say the least.

Three out of our five practices were in the rain, two of which we had full workouts in. No matter what the weather conditions are like we never practice inside — I both love and hate this aspect of running.

Monday we did 800 meter repeats on our home cross country course and puddles covered the majority of it. The rain had everyone soaked before the first interval even started and one large puddle early on made it seem like the workout was being completed in ankle weights. Nevertheless, the rain kept us on our toes throughout the workout which went surprisingly well.

The other workout occurred on Thursday. We travel to Messiah College, only a 10 minute drive from our school, once a week to do hills. The rain was lighter this time, but still heavy enough to result in waterlogged shoes.

Fortunately, Saturday finally brought favorable weather for Mid-Penn’s. We use this as a “tune-up” meet for districts and to get a very rough idea of what we will be capable of achieving there. After having first-, third-, and seventh-place finishes individually and third place overall as a team, things are looking good for Mechanicsburg in two weeks at districts.
