From sleet to heat this week, Cumberland valley lacrosse is 7-1. We had three games this past week, starting on Monday at Bishop McDevitt.
This game showed a true testament to Pennsylvania weather as it snowed all night long. In this game we made a few mistakes here and there. Our offense played well, but we just didn’t have the best shot selection. We ended up winning 10-4. Even though the score seemed close we were always in control.
On Thursday we played Hershey. In recent years past it’s been decided by one or two goals. This year was different. We played lights out and didn’t stop going. We ended up winning 12-5. In this game, 10 of our 12 goals were scored by senior Mitch Schalles and Clayton Miller. Even though they had the bulk of our points, everyone else still had an important role in our high powered offense.
On Saturday we made our way east to play Exeter Township. For the first time this year we had extremely warm weather. We came out slow against Exeter but picked it up before half, outscoring Exeter five to one. We defeated Exeter 9-2 — nothing fancy, just another win. At the end of the day we got the job done.
Heading into this week we will start preparing for our most important games. We have two in-conference games which will help us secure the Mid-Penn Commonwealth. We will have the most challenging stretch of the regular season facing Parkland, Palmyra, Trinity and Central York.
