Panthers: 6-4, 3-3 Mid-Penn Commonwealth

Eagles: 8-2, 4-2 Mid-Penn Commonwealth

Time/location: 7 p.m. Friday, Harry Chapman Field, Silver Spring Twp.

Last time: 42-3, Cumberland Valley (Week 9)

Next round: Winner of No. 5 Dallastown (8-2) at No. 4 Hempfield (7-3)

Breakdown: Hard to envision this one playing out notably differently from the last time these squads faced off two short weeks ago. The Eagles used last week’s loss to Harrisburg to get healthy, resting starters in the second half. Now begins the march through the District 3 and hopefully PIAA playoffs. This was a team with state title aspirations in the preseason and a talented and disciplined roster capable of getting there if the cards fell right. Now we find out.

Key to the game: CV held CD East athlete Kane Everson to just 9-of-18 passing with two INTs, only 65 yards rushing (on 16 carries) and no receptions. That’s the recipe for beating these Panthers, and the Eagles are well-equipped to do that again.
