One of the leaders of East Pennsboro's defense in 2017, senior linebacker Trent Fries announced his college pick on Monday.

Fries chose California University of Pennsylvania, a PSAC team, to spend his next four years.

He helped the Panthers reach the District 3 semifinals this past season. He joins arguably the Mid-Penn's top running back Onasis Neely as Panthers who will play collegiately in Pennsylvania next year. Neely officially signed his letter of intent Wednesday to play at Temple.

Fries had 60 tackles (8.5 for loss), three sacks and three picks in 2017, earning All-Sentinel First Team Defense in the process.

The Vulcans went 9-3 last season and made the NCAA Division II tournament under second-year head coach Gary Dunn, a graduate from the school.

Fries will join Mid-Penn products Dymond Thomas (LB, Chambersburg), Nathaniel Walker (OL, Cedar Cliff) and Breon Coke (LB, Mechanicsburg).
