Why do these schools hate each other?

All we know is passions are inflamed when Boiling Springs and Big Spring get together in pretty much any sport.

Nowhere is that rivalry more evident than on the gridiron, and fans recognize that rivalry.

Friday night's Boilings Springs at Big Spring contest was voted our Week 3 Game of the Week, meaning we'll provide expanded coverage of Bubblers vs. Bulldogs.

The game drew 315 votes to outdistance other nominees Cumberland Valley at Bishop McDevitt (168), Mechanicsburg at Northern (165) and Greencastle-Antrim at East Pennsboro (49).

Geoff Morrow (@RageAgainstGMo) will be there Friday night to provide coverage.

Big Spring will also retire former star Ricky Gilliam's jersey before the game at Bulldog Stadium.

Gilliam (Class of '96) starred in football and wrestling with the Bulldogs, winning a PIAA heavyweight championship and playing in the Big 33 football game before moving on to West Virginia University.

He eventually returned to help coach the Big Spring football team. He died unexpectedly in 2007 at the age of 29.
