PIAA Class 2A Quarterfinals
Sunday, at Santander Arena, Reading, 1 p.m.
Camp Hill: District 3 champion (23-5, Mid-Penn Capital)
Mahanoy: District 11 two seed (22-5, Schuylkill League Division 3)
Next round: Winner of 12-1 West Catholic (13-13) vs. 11-1 Minersville (28-0), at Bethlehem Freedom HS, Sunday at 2
Notes: Mahanoy has cruised through the state field, thumping Maritime Academy 77-27 and Old Forge 57-24. Opened the season 12-0. Camp Hill is riding wins over Blairsville (54-53) and Greensburg CC (60-52). Lions are winners of 15 of last 17.
Top players: For the Golden Bears: Coached by Tom Scheeler. An incredibly young squad (one senior starter, one reserve, two juniors). Watch for sniper Megan Bisco (11.5 ppg entering the week, 12 points Friday), who had three of Mahoney's eight 3-pointers against Old Forge. Junior Megan Babinsky runs the point; she and Abby McGee averaged just south of 10 ppg entering the week. Senior Jada Byrne and freshman Jordan Karmonick also contribute. ... For the Lions: Coached by Mark Clarke. Diamond Bragg (team-high 21.6 ppg and 50 3s), the junior Division I recruit, has been her typical self this postseason, with a triple-double in the District 3 championship and 20.5 ppg during states. Passion Bragg (9.8 ppg). Sheridan Reid (12.9 ppg, 43 3s) fresh off a 22-point (ties season high), six-trey game. One of few Lions' weaknesses is at the line: CH shoots just 50 percent on free throws.
Clarke's scouting report: "I watched them last night. … Really, really aggressive defensively. Really skilled.
"(No. 21, sophomore guard Abbey McGee) is a lefty, she seems really good overall.
"We just have to do what we do well."
