Alexa Askins' 16 points helped Carlisle fend off James Buchanan in a 46-43 win Friday afternoon.
The Thundering Herd earned a spot in Saturday's Big Spring Holiday Classic Tournament championship game, where they will face Kennard-Dale, winners over Big Spring.
Carlisle trailed 17-12 after a quarter of action, but the Rockets hit a cold stretch after that, scoring just five points in the second frame. Carlisle's defense did just enough to hold onto the win during the second half.
Cedy Clarke added nine points, as did Jesime Freet.
- Meanwhile, Big Spring couldn't overcome foul trouble in a 48-44 loss t the Rams. The Bulldogs won the turnover battle 25-22 and scored 23 points off those turovers, but lost two players in the fourth quarter to fouls in the loss. Kennard-Dale converted 18-of-27 free throws on the night, a huge advantage of Big Spring's 4-of-10 performance. Madison Bishop led the hosts with 14 points in the loss.
