Laura Salzmann wanted more than just a school to spend the next four years at.

The Boiling Springs senior chose Franciscan University, a Catholic school in Steubenville, Ohio, in December because of the school community and its religious qualities.

"It emphasizes the importance of being well-rounded in mind, spirit and body," Salzmann said Wednesday night via text. "Their sports programs are growing and expanding."

Salzmann chose the NCAA Division III school over Benedictine College and the University of Dayton. The accepted Honors Program student is undecided about her major, she said.

The forward, one of three seniors on the Bubblers this past season, was third on the team with 6.5 points per game, helping Boiling Springs (10-11) back to the District 3 playoffs under first-year coach Marisa Elliot. Salzmann scored four points in the Bubblers' 49-21 first-round loss to West Perry.

Franciscan went 3-21 in the 2016-17 season and went 7-17 the season before. The Barons made the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference Tournament in 2015 after a 10-14 regular season, falling to the University of Pittsburgh-Greensburg in the first round.
