Shippensburg kept its PIAA playoff hopes alive Thursday night, beating Dover 53-52 in the District 3 Class 5A ninth-place consolation quarterfinals. No stats were available at press time for the Greyhounds (No. 12, 15-8). They must win out to make states.
Northern was knocked out, meanwhile, by Ephrata in a tight one, 46-43. The Polar Bears got a team-high 15 points from Chris Hartley, all on the 3, but it wasn't enough. The Mountaineers came back down two points after three quarters. It sets up a matchup with Shippensburg at East Pennsboro High School on Monday at 7:30. Winner moves on.
West Shore Christian suffered a first-round upset 44-35 at the hands of Greenwood in the Class 1A quarterfinals. Three Wildcats reached double digits, while the Bobcats got 12 from Pascal Verna. They'll face No. 7 Conestoga Christian (14-9) in the consolation semis and must win in order to return to the PIAA tournament.
