Carlisle's boys basketball team held its annual year-end banquet over the weekend and honored several players for their efforts during the 2016-17 season.
Senior Ben Milligan was given the Jay Hodge Award, while classmates Jack Smith and Matt Brown were handed the Gene Evans Award and Delores Hodge Award, respectively, according to the team.
According to coach Andre Anderson, the Jay Hodge Award is presented to the player "who best exemplified the characteristics of dedication, loyalty, enthusiasm, teamwork and a consistent willingness to work toward self improvement." The Delores Hodge Award is for "characteristics of teamwork, determination, loyalty and is very coachable and willing to sacrifice for the team." The Gene Evans Award is presented to the player who "demonstrates academic excellence, athletic dedication and intensity and principled leadership both on and off the court."
Star point guard Deshawn Millington was also honored for finishing his career as the program's third all-time leading scorer.
The Thundering Herd lost to Pine-Richland in the PIAA Class 6A semifinals in March, the team's first trip to the state semis since the 1988 season when they capped off a four-year run as state championships.
