Mason Walker went 4-for-4 with three RBIs and Cole Wagner threw six innings of four-hit ball as Red Land beat Waynesboro 6-1 Monday in the Mid-Penn Conference semifinals at Northern High School. The Patriots will face Lower Dauphin back at Northern on Tuesday, weather pending, in the conference championship; the Falcons beat the Polar Bears 5-3 in the earlier semifinal. Wagner had five strikeouts in the win. Jared Payne went 2-for-3 with a run scored in a game that didn't feature a single extra-base hit, a rarity for the Patriots this season.
Brock Piper's double was one of the lone highlights for Big Spring in the Bulldogs' season finale, a 6-0 loss at Gettysburg. Big Spring (8-12) was held to five hits.
Bobby Whalen (2-for-3) tripled and drove in two runs, but Trey Law was lit up in the fifth inning as Cedar Cliff fell 11-7 at Spring Grove. Law had found some rhythm in the third and fourth innings, but the Rockets tagged him for four of their seven runs in the decisive fifth inning. Law allowed seven earned runs in 4.2 innings. Chris Dare (3-for-3) scored and knocked in a run.
