SHIPPENSBURG — Steven B. Burg, professor of history and chair of the history and philosophy department at Shippensburg University, will lecture at Sweden’s University of Gothenburg this fall after receiving a Fulbright Scholar grant.

Burg said he will be offering classes and workshops on U.S. history and historic preservation while studying Swedish approaches to similar areas and cultural resource management. He also will research the historical development of burial grounds in the Gothenburg region to examine how such sites reflect patterns of immigration, acculturation and cultural resilience among immigrants to Sweden from the 18th century to the present.

Burg is one of approximately 1,100 U.S. faculty and professionals who will travel abroad through the Fulbright U.S. Scholar Program in 2013-14.
