As a senior citizen of Adams County who spent most of my professional life as an educator, it is refreshing for me to have gotten to know a young man of sterling character whose world view encompasses giving to others rather than getting as much as possible. I speak of Andrew Myers, a candidate for State Representative in the 193rd District.
I have known Andrew for just a little over five years, but have found him to be a young man with a stellar academic record who, in his 20s, worked for Samaritan’s Purse in various capacities that included working with their disaster assistance response team after Typhoon Yolanda struck the Philippines. Since 2015 he has managed public health programs in Latin America that support national networks of clubfoot treatment clinics in both private and public hospitals.
In addition, he developed and taught a training curriculum for family care counselors working with patients in the clinics. Currently he serves on the board of Nacer USA which is a nonprofit that supports the work of children’s home in Bolivia. His wife, Dara, supports him totally in his endeavors and they are both active in their local church and community.
It is a joy for me to have gotten to know such a bright, energetic and selfless young man who has chosen to further his service to his community by representing them in the State House. I strongly endorse his candidacy.
