Dear Editor:

I am honored to have the opportunity to run for Camp Hill Borough Council and serve its residents. As a native of Central Pennsylvania, I am committed to the region and even more so to Camp Hill, where I live with my husband, Ray Givler, and two daughters, Sylvia and Gloria, who attend Camp Hill schools.

With the world changing rapidly around us, I believe we need to work hard to maintain the treasures of Camp Hill, while moving forward with improvements that attract residents and businesses to secure our our tax base and quality of life. Based on discussions with residents and understanding top concerns, I plan to work to make an already great place to live and work an even stronger community.

I possess a strong record of community service, board membership, and results-oriented, business leadership. I am serving on the Camp Hill Planning Commission and I am co-leader of a community group, the Cumberland Blvd Improvement Taskforce, focusing on improving roadway safety, which worked together to secure a corridor study from downtown Harrisburg, through the middle of Camp Hill, to Route 581.

As a life-long learner, a market researcher, and a former professor, I am a huge education advocate. I am a JR Achievement volunteer, bringing economic education to our schools, and Hammond Society Member for Penn State's Smeal College of Business. I also promote the development of leadership and life skills for the girls in our community, serving as a head coach and former Vice President for the Camp Hill Girls' Fast Pitch Softball League. If elected, I intend to leverage my energy, work ethic, and experience to get things done.

I ask that your readers consider my analytic leadership skills, dedicated community service, and can-do attitude, and vote for me on November 7th for Camp Hill Borough Council.

Sherry A. Bowman is a candidate for Camp Hill Borough Council.
