• Services for Theodore "Ted" Dingle, 72, of 1608 Pine Road, Penn Township, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday in Ewing Brothers Funeral Home, 630 S. Hanover St., Carlisle.

    He died Thursday, July 3, 1997 in Hershey Medical Center.

    Born Sept. 13, 1924 in Corry, he was a son of the late Theodore J. Dingle and Ann Bacon Dingle Bryson.

    A 1942 graduate of Carlisle High School, Mr. Dingle was a World War II veteran who served in the Navy Armed Guard.

    He was a retired employee of Pennsylvania Fish Commission with 43 years of service. He was superintendent of Huntsdale Fish Hatchery.

    Mr. Dingle was a member of Centerville Lutheran Church; life member and past president of Penn Township Volunteer Fire Company; member and past president of Cumberland County Volunteer Firemen's Association; and a former Big Spring school board member.

    Surviving are his wife of 48 years, Erma A. Swigert Dingle; a son, Brad M. of Dover; two daughters, Olivia A. Reeder of Carlisle and Karen L. Wiker of Ephrata; a brother, David W. of Jackson, N.J.; a sister, Becky A. Brown of Carlisle; a stepfather, William Bryson of Merryville, Tenn.; a stepmother, Jannette Utech of Carlisle; a stepbrother, Ethan A. Dingle of New Oxford; a stepsister, Rachel D. Hollenbaugh of Carlisle; and four grandchildren.

    He was preceded in death by a daughter, Deborah K. Dingle, who died in 1990.

    Pastor John Schier-Hanson will officiate at Tuesday's services.

    Burial will be in Cumberland Valley Memorial Gardens, West Pennsboro Township.

    Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday in the funeral home.
