PHILADELPHIA — Angry taxpayers who couldn’t make it to the Philadelphia tax protest on Wednesday will have another chance on Saturday.

Protesters angry about what they see as out-of-control spending by the federal government plan to gather from noon to 2 p.m. on Independence Mall for what they call a “tea party.”

Organizers say that in 1773, throngs of Philadelphians angry about British taxes gathered at a “tea party” in the courtyard of what’s now known as Independence Hall. They say the Philadelphia event coincided with the better-known Boston Tea Party.
