Thirty-six-year-old Jason Kuhns of the Pittsburgh suburb of Brentwood is charged with criminal homicide, robbery and burglary in the April 2011 death of 90-year-old furrier Cuddy Briskin.
Prosecutors told jurors Tuesday that Kuhns killed the victim with a tire iron and stole silver and gold coins that later turned up at a pawnshop, and an employee identified the defendant as the person who brought them in.
Defense attorney John Elash said his client was innocent of the murder and was forced to confess while under the influence of drugs. He said authorities don’t have a murder weapon and no physical evidence links his client to the crime.
