Most area school districts have announced two-hour delays for Wednesday morning as Cumberland County deals with a winter weather advisory for icy conditions.
Big Spring, Carlisle, Cumberland Valley, East Pennsboro, Mechanicsburg, Shippensburg, South Middleton and West Shore school districts are included in the list of 2-hour delays this morning.
The National Weather Service's winter weather advisory remains in effect until 11 a.m.
ABC27 Meteorologist Brett Thackara says to expect an icy commute this morning. Several inches of snow fell in areas north of Harrisburg while southern York and Lancaster counties saw mainly rainfall.
The morning hours will be critical as temperatures remain at or slightly below 32 degrees. Any rain will freeze on contact and create an icy glaze on roadways and sidewalks. Give yourself some extra time to get around during the first half of the day ahead. After lunch, skies will remain mostly cloudy with temperatures in the upper 30's. After today, quiet weather will persist through the end of the work week with a bit of a bump in temperatures.
