HARRISBURG — More than 34,000 electricity customers in the area were without power Friday evening as high winds from a powerful coastal storm downed trees and power lines.
PPL Electric Utilities at 5 p.m. reported outages were affecting more than 12,400 customers in the area. More than 5,800 customers in Lancaster County and more than 4,200 customers in Dauphin County had no service.
First Energy reported more than 20,200 customers without power at 5 p.m. Outages in York County topped 10,500 and 4,600 in Lebanon County. More than 2,300 customers had lost service in Cumberland County.
Smaller outages were reported in other counties.
Adams Electric reported about 1,700 customers in its service area had lost power.
