Each week, The Sentinel publishes stories we receive to prompts in Kids World and on www.cumberlink.com. This week’s Kids Speak Out prompt was “The person I admire the most is ...”

“The person I admire the most is my sister, Savannah. Why? Because when I need help (she helps). She also helps other people who need help. When someone is sad, she makes them laugh. She would help anyone.”

Lexis Hamilton

East Pennsboro Elementary School

“The people I admire the most is my mom and dad. I admire (them) the most ... because they love and care about me. They do a lot of hard work for me. Some of the things they work hard for is to earn money, cook, work and keep track on what’s going on every single day. They always have to know where I’m at. I love when I go on vacations with one of them; it’s really fun!”

“The person I admire the most is my mom because she is very thoughtful, kind, sweet and caring. Another reason why I admire her the most is because she is helpful (and) nice. She is good at cooking, she has great handwriting, (and) she helps me with homework.

Morgan Neal, 9

“The person I admire the most is Jackie Robinson because he was the first African American to play baseball in the major league. I admire him because he never ever gave up when people would say you are not good, or if the crowd would boo him. Also, everyone would throw trash at him when he went up to hit just because he was African American. My dream is to play major league baseball with my friends. Jackie Robinson never game up, so that means I’m not going to give up!”

Easton Curcio Comp, 8

Grade 3

East Pennsboro Elementary School

“The person I admire the most is my teacher, Mrs. Strock. The reason why I admire her is because she is really kind, and since she is a teacher, I look up to her because I want to be a teacher when I grow up. She is also (worth) admiring because she teaches me new things every day. She is brave, smart, awesome, amazing and super cool. The last reason why I admire her is because she inspires me and when I feel I can’t do something, she tells me I can or that we need to work on it together and then we will get it right away, and she will be proud of me and she makes me feel proud of myself, too.”

Aubrie Holtzapple, 9

Grade 4

“The person I admire the most is Donald Trump because he is trying to help us become great again. He is trying to stop people from each other (sic). Also by helping us, he is running to be our next president. I admire him so much that when I am old enough, I am going to run for president.”
