Each week, The Sentinel publishes stories we receive to prompts in Kids World and on www.cumberlink.com. This week’s Kids Speak Out prompt was “The best costume I’ve ever seen was ...”

“The best costume I have ever seen was when my friend was the Marshmallow Man from ‘Ghostbusters.’ It was so cool because it had an air pump so he would still have air in him to make the body part stay up.”

“One of the coolest costumes I have ever seen was actually one of my brother’s from two years ago. And it was n iPhone! It looked really cool, but it was really big! We didn’t buy it—my mom made it herself with cardboard, black paint, and she printed out some sheets that had the iPhone apps on it. It looked so realistic. When my brother went trick-or-treating, everybody thought it was cool too!”

“The best costume I ever saw was this skeleton costume. It looked like the person who was wearing it was about 16 years old. I saw him when it was pitch black outside. I could tell that they probably bought it somewhere. I could tell because those bones looked really real, and then there as the material that the bones were attached to, which was clear. Under it, they were wearing probably something navy blue or black—so you couldn’t see the material it was attached to, which made it look really real. The face looked really real, too. If I was wearing that, I would scare everyone out of the way to get the good stuff (candy).

“The best costume I’ve ever worn is a cake costume. I thought it was the best costume because it was really big, wide birthday cake. What I loved about it was that it came with a headband with a birthday cake on it and a candle. What I also liked about it was that it was decorative and comfortable. It was kind of hard to walk around in it all night during Halloween, but it was still fun.”

“The best costume I ever saw was my best friend, Cici’s. I thought it was a very good pirate costume. I like it so much because it was very detailed. It had girl pirate hair coming out of the hat, so it really looked like a pirate head. She wore leather boots, which made it look awesome! Also, i thought it was very good because it’s very simple and easy to put on.

“The best costume I’ve ever seen was my SpongeBob costume my mom made for me for the 2015 Halloween. We made it out of cardboard and paper. It was a bit big on me, and I couldn’t reach the candy, but I still liked it. I also sprayed my hair yellow because SpongeBob is yellow. Out of all the costumes I’ve seen or worn, I think SpongeBob’s the best!”
