Each week, The Sentinel publishes stories we receive to prompts in Kids World and on www.cumberlink.com. This week’s Kids Speak Out prompt was “My favorite holiday movie is ...”

“My favorite holiday movies are ‘The Nightmare Before Christmas,’ and ‘An Elf’s Story,’ and ‘Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer.’ I like the ‘Nightmare Before Christmas’ because my favorite part of the movie is when Jack Skellington dresses up and acts like Santa. I like ‘An Elf’s Story’ because one of the elves is always being crazy and funny. I like ‘Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer’ because the reindeer are funny. I think all of the movies are really good movies.”

“My favorite holiday movie is either ‘Elf’ or ‘Christmas Vacation.’ I like ‘Elf’ so much because Buddy (the main character) is a human but he lives in Santa’s Village. The way he got there is because he snuck into Santa’s sack at an orphanage because he saw a teddy bear. I like ‘Christmas Vacation’ too because it is so, so, so funny! The funniest character is the lady who wraps up her pet cat and gives it to her grandchild as her Christmas gift. They both are very funny! And Buddy puts syrup on noodles!”

“My favorite holiday movie are the ‘Home Alone’ movies because they are super funny. Ho ho ho ho! My favorite part is the day the brick falls on the bad guy’s head. My other favorite movie is ‘The Nightmare Before Christmas’ when they sing their song and when the kid opens their presents. It’s funny.”

“My favorite holiday movie is ‘Home Alone’ because I think ‘Home Alone’ is a really good movie. It is super funny. Another reason is because my family and I have watched all the series of ‘Home Alone’ together, and we all like them. I have all of the ‘Home Alone’ movies, and I have watched them over and over again.”

“My favorite holiday movie is ‘How the Grinch Stole Christmas.’ The part that I think is the best and the funniest is when the Grinch turns on the toy monkey and it had symbols on its hands. Then it clapped the Grinch’s head. That’s why I like this movie so much.”

Corbin Beish, 7

“My favorite holiday movie is ‘Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer.’ It is my favorite because when I was little, I used to always watch that movie. Also why I like it the most is (because it’s) a Christmas movie, and I really like Christmas.”

Zachary Rengen, 9

“My favorite holiday movie is ‘Christmas at Pee Wee’s Playhouse.’ It is my favorite holiday movie because it is a very, very, very funny movie. Pee Wee is a very funny guy, and he uses a catchphrase and it is ‘You know what I mean?’ It might not sound that funny, but when he says it, it is hilarious!”
