Each week, The Sentinel publishes stories we receive to prompts in Kids World and on www.cumberlink.com. This week’s Kids Speak Out prompt was “If I owned a pet shop, I would only sell ...”

“If I owned a pet shop, I would only sell puppies with jet packs because puppies are awesome and cute. I would be super-duper rich! Most of the puppies would be small but some would be big. Each puppy would come with clothes! The puppies would cost $2,000! I would also get a puppy for myself. All of the puppies would be 3 months old and super-duper cute. My pet shop would be the most popular in the whole entire world! All of the puppies would know the tricks like cartwheels and jumping through a hoop on fire!”

“If I owned a pet shop, I would only sell a snake. I would only sell a snake because they’re scaly. And they’re scary, but sometimes they’re nice to you. And because they grab your food quickly, and it’s scary but sometimes funny. And they’re cool and funny sometimes. Everyone thinks they’re cool.”

“If I owned a pet shop, I would only sell rodents because they are easy to keep and you don’t have to walk them. Here’s a list of all you need: food and water, a cage to keep them in, playtime and something they can sleep in. If you follow the list, then you will have a very good pet.”

“If I owned a pet shop, I would only sell unicorns. One reason I would sell unicorns is because you would be able to fly them home. Another reason is because they will give you company and love you forever and ever. Last, but not least, because they can grant you whatever wish you make.”

“If I owned a pet shop, I’d only sell chickens. I think a chicken would be a good pet because they give you breakfast. I wouldn’t sell roosters. I think they’re mean. My cousin has a rooster and he nearly knocked me over. If my sister had a pet shop, she’d sell one thing, a peacock. The chicken is the only animal I would sell if I had a pet shop. I wanted to have chickens but my mom didn’t. Instead I have a dog, a bunny, and a fish that isn’t doing good. I wouldn’t sell goats because they’re mean. My cousin has a goat that hurt chickens. If I sell chickens, I’d be selling dinosaurs. A chicken has four toes, feathers like some dinosaurs and a neck that is curved like an S. I’d sell the chickens for $5.29.”

“If I owned a pet store, I would only sell lizards. I would only sell lizards because they are small and easy to take care of. They are normally $10 or $20 each. Cages are normally $6 or $7. And food is normally $1.49.”
