Each week, The Sentinel publishes stories we receive to prompts in Kids World and on www.cumberlink.com. This week’s Kids Speak Out prompt was “‘If I could play any winter Olympic sport, it would be ...’”

“If I could play any winter Olympics sport, it would be ice skating. I love to go ice skating because it’s so easy! It’s easy because it’s just like rollerblading, but in snow. I also really like the cold. My family and I love to go to Twin Ponds to ice skate.”

“If I could play any winter Olympic sport, it would be snowboarding. I like snowboarding because it is very fun and exciting. It is like skateboarding, but the skateboard doesn’t have wheels and you do not run it yourself. You just glide down a hill of snow. It is still hard because you have to avoid obstacles and rocks.”

Colby Kostelac, 9

“If I could play any winter Olympic sport, it would be figure skating. I love the feeling of ice and twirling—it feels so magical. When I ice skate, I feel like I’m trapped in this work, and the only way for me to get out is to dance on sparkling ice! When I ice skate, I just feel free! I don’t like sports, but I love figure skating.”

“(If I could play any winter Olympic sport), I would snowboard. I snowboard when there is lots of snow. I am still practicing but I’m getting better.”
