Each week, The Sentinel publishes stories we receive to prompts in Kids World and on www.cumberlink.com. This week’s Kids Speak Out prompt was “If I could build anything out of snow, I would build ...”

“If I could build anything in the snow, I would make a snow fort with my sisters. Sophia is the queen and Maggie and Katie are the princesses. I am the chef. I serve ice and snowballs. We make snow angels and make a snowman. We would jump in the snow. My mom and my dad are the jester. We would play all day and have a lot of fun.”

“If I could build anything out of snow, I would build a giant fort. It would have snowballs inside so you can hide in there and have a snowball fight. It would be like an igloo. It would have a small entrance so you would have to crawl to get inside. I would also build million of snowmen to throw snowballs at.”

“If I could build anything out of snow, I would make the biggest snowball in the universe! Then it would become a tourist attraction. Also I’d sculpt it as a 400-foot tall Santa Claus. It was so tall that not even the Statue of Liberty could be as tall as the snow sculpture. But then ... the snow sculpture started to melt. So we tried to put it in a nice and cold place at the museum. And then next winter we will let it out again.”

“If I could build anything out of snow, I would build a base. In the base there would be weapons to fight with. It would be fun in the snow base. There would be hangars for planes. But I would go to my house at night. It would be very fun. In the spring it would melt, but I could make another the year after.”

“If I could build anything out of snow, I would build a snowman because they are fun to make. I like to make the body for the snowman and connect carrots and rocks. I also like making it with my family and friends.”

Megan Kaplin, 9

“If I could build anything out of snow, I will build a snow mansion. It would have 10 floors and it would have two kitchens and eight bathrooms. I would put a pool in it too. I would make the pool warm with heaters. I would make the heaters out of ice. I would stay in the house until winter was over.”
