Each week, The Sentinel publishes stories we receive to prompts in Kids World and on www.cumberlink.com. This week’s Kids Speak Out prompt was “If I could be a character from any book, I would be ...”

“If I could be a character from any book, I would be Laura Wilder from ‘The Little House on the Prairie.’ I love Laura and Mary and Carrie. I love Laura because she is a nice girl. So are Carrie and Mary. I love Laura Wilder books. I like her books because they are very good.”

“If I could be any character from a book, I would be Emily from ‘The Tale of Emily Windsnap.’ The first reason I would like to be her is because she is a mermaid! Another reason I would like to be her is because she is sneaky. The third reason is because she takes risks. For example, she snuck out at night to go swimming, but she didn’t know how to swim so she could’ve drowned.”

“If I could be a character from any book, I would be Jack from ‘Magic Tree House.’ Every time I read one of those books it takes me on an adventure, and they have a really big series. They have 54 books in the series, and the books take you all around the world. In the first book, they do not know Morgan Le Fay. They think his name is Magic Man. They go on missions for Morgan.”

“If I could be any character, I would be Ivy from the book, ‘Ivy and Bean.’ I would be Ivy because she is a witch, so she can do spells and fly on a broom. I would also be Ivy because she can make birds come out and land on her arms, because she said if you’re still like a bird, then they think you’re one of them. Another thing is Ivy is a smart girl. Ivy is fun and she always would have something interesting every day. And when her best friend, Bean, comes over, they would have an adventure or something strange going on. Ivy is just a fun, cool, good friend you would always want to hang out with.”

“I would be Cindy Lou from ‘Yogi Bear Park.’ She is a great character. I got my picture taken with her when I went to Yogi Bear Park. It was fun. They have these giant umbrellas. That’s why I want to be Cindy Lou.”

“If I could be any character from a book, I would be Queen Blossom of the Kingdom of Fantasy in the series, ‘Geronimo Stilton.’ I would be her because she has a twin just like me. She is not afraid of anything (I’m not exactly the not-scared-of-anything type!), and I would love to be brave! She is kind, caring and loving. She listens to people, very curious as to what they have to say, and she responds very respectfully.”

“If I could be a character from any book, I would be Catrina because Raina Telgemeier made her up. I like Catrina because she doesn’t like ghosts. She’s cool and awesome. I love the author Raina because she writes graphic novels, and I love graphic novels.”
