CARLISLE – The Cumberland County Library System will have limited library services today through Thursday as it works on launching its new library management software, Sierra, and a new online catalog, Encore.

The new software and catalog will be launched on Thursday, but to make final preparations, the old computer system will be shut down to allow for final loading of millions of records onto the new servers, the library system said.

During these days, the library catalog will not be available on the website, library cards must be presented to borrow items (no alternative forms of identification will be accepted) and holds cannot be placed by customers or staff.

The new catalog will give library customers access to an improved online catalog and better research opportunities when they visit the library or its website from a mobile device or personal computer, the library system said.
