This week’s Tour Through Time takes a look at past images from Jubilee Day in Mechanicsburg.
The first image shows a street scene at Jubilee Day in Mechanicsburg with vendor booths, fire trucks and a policeman, in the first block of East Main Street, looking west in 1965.
The second image shows a street scene of a crowd of people at Jubilee Day on the first block of West Main Street, looking east at an unknown date. The attraction is the Mechanicsburg Jaycees Dunking Booth.
The third images shows a street scene at the square, intersection of Main and Market Streets in Mechanicsburg, showing a crowd of people at Jubilee Day in 1955. A banner reading Jubilee Day June 12 hangs across the street.
Tour Through Time will run Saturdays in The Sentinel as a joint project with the Cumberland County Historical Society. Sentinel photographers will work with staff at the Historical Society each week to offer a look at Carlisle and the surrounding area through the years.
