This weeks Tour Through Time looks at four Jim Bradley photographs that show a derailment of a Reading Gettysburg Branch train, west of the Lower Mill in the Holly Gap on July 25, 1969.
Some of the cars spilled their load into Mountain Creek. The Deer Lodge Restaurant is visible in the background. The W sign indicates that the engineer should blow his whistle for a grade crossing ahead.
Tour Through Time will run Saturdays in The Sentinel as a joint project with the Cumberland County Historical Society.
Sentinel photographer Michael Bupp will work with staff at the Historical Society each week to offer a look at Carlisle and the surrounding area through the years.
