The Cumberland County Chapter of the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution is accepting essays until Nov. 30 for two annual contests.
The essay contests are open to public school, private school and homeschooled students who reside in Cumberland County. Electronic informational packets, including essay topics, essay requirements and submission policies, were emailed to schools and home school organizations with an email address for the principal, administrator or organizer.
Ask your educator for essay details; additional information is also available upon request at essays4cumberlandcountychapterDAR@gmail.com.
The two essay contests are the American History Essay Contest and the Christopher Columbus Essay Contest. Students in fifth through eighth grade are eligible to enter the American History Essay Contest. A winner will be selected from entries in each of the four grade levels. Students in ninth through 12th grade are eligible to enter the Christopher Columbus Essay Contest. One winner across all four grade levels will be selected.
All winners will be submitted for consideration in the state competition and will be recognized at a Cumberland County Chapter NSDAR membership meeting in 2018.
