A 70-year-old inmate at State Correctional Institute at Camp Hill died this week.

James Michael Bailey suffered life-threatening injuries after he jumped from a second-floor tier of a housing unit at the state prison around 6:30 a.m. Jan. 15, according to the Pennsylvania Department of Corrections.

Bailey was taken to Geisinger Holy Spirit Trauma Center, where he was pronounced dead, the Department of Corrections said.

Prior to his death, Bailey had been temporarily transferred to SCI Camp Hill from SCI Greene in Waynesburg where he had been serving a life sentence.
