A math teacher at Susquenita High School faces charges after State Police at Newport says she stole cash and gift cards from a ninth-grade student's purse.
Police Monday reported that Tara Smith, 34, of Harrisburg, removed a 14-year-old girls' purse that contained cash and gift cards from the classroom between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. Jan. 9.
Police said Smith purchased items online with the gift card.
Smith is charged with theft, receiving stolen property and access device fraud.
Smith is listed on Susquenita School District's website as an Algebra teacher.
