Shippensburg man killed in Franklin County crash Saturday

GUILFORD TWP. – A Shippensburg man is dead and his mother injured after a one-vehicle crash Saturday on Interstate 81 in Franklin County.

State police at Chambersburg said Vincent Patrick McNerney, 70, of Shippensburg, was driving a 2003 GMC Envoy on I-81 south at 7:35 p.m. when the vehicle hit a guiderail and flipped over the embankment. The vehicle overturned in the crash, police said.

McNerney was wearing a seat belt, but no air bags were deployed.

McNerney’s mother, Frances Senft Sterrett, 92, of Shippensburg, was a passenger in the vehicle, police said. She was flown to Penn State Milton S. Hershey Medical Center and was in stable condition Sunday, abc27 reported.

MARION — One occupant of a vehicle was killed in a crash that happened at 7:35 p.m. Sept. 21 in Guilford Township, Franklin County.

Police say the crash happened on Interstate 81 southbound, near mile marker 10. State police found a car hit a guiderail and flipped over the embankment, according to abc27 News.

A woman inside the vehicle was flown to Penn State Hershey Medical Center and is in stable condition. Her male companion was pronounced dead on the scene, abc27 News said.

The Franklin County Coroner’s Office will release names pending notification of the next of kin.

Police seek information about the crash.
