A Philadelphia man has died while incarcerated at State Correctional Institution at Camp Hill, according to a release from SCI Camp Hill on Tuesday.
Arsenio Snell, 22, was found unresponsive in his cell at the prison’s diagnostic and classification/reception unit at about 12:47 p.m. Monday, according to Acting Superintendent Kathy Zwierzyna.
The release said “corrections staff immediately responded and performed cardiopulmonary resuscitation until local emergency medical services crews arrived.”
Snell was transported to Holy Spirit Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
As required by policy, institutional staff and members of Pennsylvania State Police are conducting an investigation.
Snell, who was sentenced in October 2010 to a 20- to 40-year sentence for first-degree murder out of Philadelphia, had been in prison since May 29. He was undergoing diagnostic and classification evaluations to determine security needs, program needs and his eventual placement in the state prison system, according to the release.
