Derek J. Varner, 30, of Carlisle, was charged with possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia after a traffic stop at 1:12 a.m. Oct. 27 in the 100 block of Porter Avenue. Police said they stopped the vehicle for traveling the wrong way on the road, and Varner, the front seat passenger, was seen concealing an item next to his seat. Police searched the area around him and found a metal vial that contained crack cocaine. Police also found a straw with white residue next to Varner. Charges were filed via summons.
David Jean, 30, of Carlisle, was charged with possession of a small amount of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and a number of summary traffic offenses after a traffic stop at 4:40 a.m. Oct. 19 at the Hanover Street exit ramp from Interstate 81. Police said they detected an odor of marijuana from the vehicle, and a search found the drug and paraphernalia.
James Keet, 55, of Newville, was charged with possession of a small amount of marijuana and public drunkenness after a report of an intoxicated man lying in a back yard in the 100 block of North Bedford Street at 8:14 p.m. Oct. 13, police reported Oct. 28. The man was identified as Keet, and he was arrested for public drunkenness. During a search, police found marijuana on his person.
North Middleton Township Police (717-243-7910)
Amanda Jayne Baker, 20, of Carlisle, was charged with firearms not to be carried without a license, DUI controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia and summary traffic offenses after a traffic stop on Oct. 17. Police said Baker presented a driver’s license that wasn’t hers, and she failed the sobriety tests. During a search of her car, police found suspected narcotics, paraphernalia, a handgun and a rifle. Bail was set at $49,000, which she was unable to post.
Ryan Scott Stevenson, 51, of Carlisle, was charged with simple assault and harassment after a domestic incident in the first block of Green Meadow Drive on Oct. 24. Police said he assaulted a woman at the residence, fled and was later found in Carlisle.

Antonio Santana, 58, of Grand Prairie, Texas, was cited with reckless driving, restrictions on bridges and accidents involving property after police said he was driving a 2002 Freightliner tractor-trailer in Mount Holly Springs at 7:01 a.m. Oct. 26 when he made an illegal turn onto Mt. Zion Road, proceeded north and failed to see the height restrictions on the railroad overpass. The top of the trailer struck the bottom of the overpass, causing major damage to the trailer. Santana left the scene but was found in a parking lot on Park Drive, police said.
A black 2010 Polaris Ranger RZR 800 ATV was stolen from the first block of Hershey Road, Shippensburg Township, between 5 p.m. Sept. 27 and 10 a.m. Sept. 30, police reported Oct. 28.
Brian A. Snowden, 42, of Winston-Salem, North Carolina, was injured after he lost control of his 2005 Ford Explorer while traveling south on Interstate 81 in South Middleton Township, left the road and struck a tree around 11:05 p.m. Oct. 29.
Two adults and six children were injured after their vehicle was rear-ended by a white minivan when traveling east on Green Spring Road in North Newton Township around 7:45 a.m. Oct. 29. The driver of the minivan fled the scene before police arrived.
Around 2:17 a.m. Oct. 29, Dakota J. Irwin, 22, of Newville, drove off the right side of the road while traveling south on Bloserville Road in Upper Frankford Township and struck two guard rails.
