Jan M. Heilman, 55, of Carlisle, was charged with felony retail theft after an incident at Walmart at 2:26 p.m. Oct. 14. Police said Heilman attempted to leave the store without paying for merchandise. The merchandise was retrieved by Walmart loss prevention, and equated to a total cost of $117.88, but Heilman left the scene. Police said she was identified through an investigation and arrested Oct. 15.
Middlesex Township Police (717-249-7191)
Katherine Marie Eby, 23, of Smithsburg, Maryland, was charged with possession of contraband, resisting arrest, disorderly conduct, possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia and operating a vehicle without inspection after a traffic stop on Oct. 15. She was charged after she refused to be handcuffed, and later found to have a controlled substance inside her vagina and was charged with contraband, police said. She posted $10,000 cash bail and was released.

Merle Allen Beatty, 65, of Warfordsburg, was charged with misdemeanor indecent exposure, summary harassment and disorderly conduct. Police said he exposed his genitals to another man in a restroom at the rest area on Interstate 81 north in Penn Township around 11:11 p.m. Oct. 10.
A 4-year-old child was flown to Chambersburg Hospital after a farming accident at 12:05 p.m. Oct. 17 in the first block of Duncan Road, Southampton Township. Police did not release any more details.
State Police at Newport (717-567-3110)
Donald P. Hardwick, 55, of Blaine, Washington, was taken to Penn State Health Hershey Medical Center after police said he was speeding on Route 11/15 south in Watts Township in a 2001 Kenworth T2000 and struck the rear of a 2014 Mack CXU613, driven by Donovan W. Olden, 27, of Boonsboro, Maryland. Hardwick was ejected from his vehicle, and Olden suffered minor injuries, police said.
