Someone entered a home and removed property in the 2100 block of Bradford Drive sometime in the afternoon hours of Nov. 15 or Nov. 16. Police said someone had entered the home through an open garage door. Police remind residents to keep their homes and vehicles secured, and to report any suspicious activity.
Daniel Hafer, 37, of Middletown, waived his charges to higher court after a preliminary hearing Nov. 13. Hafer faces charges of access device fraud and identity theft (two counts each), as well as theft by unlawful taking, stemming from a March 6 investigation in which a woman reported Hafter took her credit card out of her purse and used it to withdraw money from an ATM. Hafer was arraigned on the charges on Nov. 8, and he posted bail after it was reduced to unsecured bail during the preliminary hearing.
West Shore Regional Police (717-238-9676) Police are seeking witnesses of a serious crash at North Front Street and Edna Street in Wormleysburg at about 6:45 p.m. Nov. 17. Police said the crash involved a motorcycle.
State Police at Carlisle (717-249-2121)
Police are investigating a hit-and-run in which a Jeep was struck while it was parked at Giant Food Stores on Walnut Bottom Road, South Middleton Township, at 5:07 p.m. Nov. 17. Police said a vehicle, which was parked crooked in the stall directly to the left of the Jeep, backed out of the parking stall and side-swiped the rear of the Jeep, causing minor damage to both vehicles. The driver of the striking vehicle fled the scene.
Police said a juvenile cut a seat belt in a van belonging to the Yellow Breeches Educational Center at about 12:30 p.m. Nov. 10.
State Police at Newport (717-567-3110)
A black, metal case containing tattoo equipment was found at the exit from Newport Plaza on Route 34 in Howe Township at 1:30 p.m. Nov. 15.
A driver was injured after a two-vehicle crash on Shortcut Road, Howe Township, at 10:28 a.m. Nov. 18. Police said A 17-year-old Duncannon boy was driving a 2005 Chevrolet Silverado west on West Shortcut Road when he attempted to make a right curve in the road. His vehicle fishtailed, crossed into the eastbound lane of travel and struck the driver’s side of a 2013 Chevrolet Equinox driven by Dennis J. Dolan, 60, of Duncannon. Dolan was transported to Geisinger Holy Spirit to be evaluated for minor injuries. The teen was uninjured and cited for failure to drive at a safe speed. Both vehicles had to be towed from the scene.
Four teens and a 7-year-old are suspects in a mischief case in which police said they threw rocks at a vehicle, causing minor damage, in the first block of Country Meadow Lane, Centre Township, at 12:50 p.m. Oct. 22, police reported Nov. 19. Police said the suspects are the 7-year-old and three teens from New Bloomfield, as well as a 16-year-old from Harrisburg—the oldest teen in the group.
A driver was injured after a two-vehicle crash on Pisgah State Road, Carroll Township, at 5:38 p.m. Nov. 15. Police said Christine R. Ulsh, 48, of Shermans Dale, was driving a 2014 Subaru Legacy north on Spring Road when she attempted to make a left turn onto Pisgah State Road. Police said Ulsh made too sharp of a turn and struck a 2010 Acura T2X that was stopped at the stop sign at the intersection. Ulsh was uninjured and cited for failure to drive on roadways laned for traffic. The driver of the Acura, April M. Shanafelter, 35, of Shermans Dale, suffered minor injuries and was transported to Geisinger Holy Spirit. The Acura was towed from the scene, but the Subaru was driveable.
