A digital speed sign owned by the Borough of Carlisle located in the 800 block of North Pitt Street was vandalized with black permanent marker between Dec. 27 and Jan. 1.
Upper Allen Township Police (717-795-2445)
Three people were injured in a two-vehicle crash in the 1000 block of South Market Street near Hemlock Drive at 10:30 a.m. Dec. 31. Police said Michael L. Gepfer, 35, of Mount Joy, was distracted and turned into the path of a vehicle driven by Denise P. Thompson, 49, of Carlisle. Passengers of Thompson’s vehicle were transported to the hospital, and both vehicles sustained disabling damage.

Frederick James Vallot, 42, of Carlisle, was charged with misdemeanor defiant trespass, loitering and several summary offenses after police said he repeatedly banged on doors and windows of a home in the 400 block of Whiskey Run Road in Upper Mifflin Township around 3:12 a.m. Jan. 1.
Around 2:26 a.m., police said, Brandon Lee Altizer, 33, of South Middleton Township, assaulted and attempted to strangle a woman in the 200 block of Meals Drive in South Middleton Township and was charged with felony strangulation, misdemeanor simple assault and summary harassment.
A 17-year-old boy was found in possession of 12 unopened cans of beer during a traffic stop in the first block of West Penn Street in Carlisle around 10:26 p.m. Dec. 31.
State Police at Newport (717-567-3110)
Between 11:15 a.m. and 11:45 a.m. Dec. 28, speakers and a phone charger were stolen from outside the Weis Market in the 300 block of Walnut Street in Newport.
Police are investigating a hit-and-run in which a vehicle traveling north on Waggoners Gap Road, Spring Township, at 4:15 p.m. Dec. 30 left the road and struck a guardrail. Debris was left behind and matches a blue 2002-03 Subaru Impreza.Steven Michael Peters, 27, of New Bloomfield, was charged with felony burglary and theft by unlawful taking after police said he entered a locked residence in the 400 block of Windy Hill Road, Carroll Township, using a credit card between 6 p.m. and midnight Dec. 24. Police said he retrieved the keys once inside, left, and then returned the vehicle later that evening. Peters was taken into custody at his residence and is in Perry County Prison on $20,000 cash bail.
