Carlisle Police (717-243-5252)

Jason Shughart, 35, of Carlisle, was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia, careless driving and driving an unregistered vehicle after a traffic stop at 9:10 a.m. Jan. 11. Police said Shughart was pulled over and a glass crack pipe was located on his person and another crack pipe was found in his vehicle.

North Middleton Township Police (717-243-7910) Jason A. Grove, 40, of Carlisle, was charged with simple assault and harassment after police said he assaulted a woman repeatedly during an argument at 7:30 p.m. Jan. 11. Police said the women left the residence in her bare feet and was later picked up by family members and taken to the Carlisle Police station. Police said there was physical evidence of an assault. Grove remains in Cumberland County Prison on $10,000 cash bail.

Police said they investigated a report of shots fired in the 2700 block of Longs Gap Road about 4 p.m. Jan. 10. They hadn’t immediately found anything suspicious and later found that a residence was shooting a firearm on his/her property legally and safely.

Upper Allen Township Police (717-795-2445)

Police are investigating a hit-and-run at the intersection of Gettysburg Pike and South Market Street about 2 p.m. Jan. 12. Police said a driver was stopped at a red traffic signal north on Gettysburg Pike when an elderly woman driving a silver Mercedes-Benz sedan failed to stop her vehicle and rear-ended the vehicle. The woman stopped and spoke with the other drive but left the scene without providing her identity or vehicle insurance information. The vehicle was last seen heading south on South Market Street toward Route 15. Police seek information and witnesses.

State Police at Carlisle (717-249-2121)

Police are investigating a scam in which a Lower Frankford Township resident reported being contacted by someone claiming to be with the National Police Officer Association and was collecting donations. The resident reported Jan. 10 that he or she donated money but later figured out it was a scam.

A bicycle was stolen from the front porch of a residence in the 1500 block of Holly Pike, South Middleton Township, between 5 p.m. Jan. 10 and 3 a.m. Jan. 11.

A vehicle drove off the road, causing damage to the lawn of a home in the 4400 block of Carlisle Road, Dickinson Township, before fleeing the scene on Jan. 11.

Between 10:30 p.m. Jan. 12 and 6:30 a.m. Jan. 13, the glass to a screen door was damaged in the first block of Tiptop Circle in Lower Frankford Township.

An extension cord to a Christmas tree in the first block of 1st Street in South Middleton Township was cut around 8 p.m. Dec. 25.

Threatening text messages were sent to a woman in the 100 block of South Conestoga Drive in Shippensburg Township between 1 a.m. and 1 p.m. Jan. 11.

State Police at Newport (717-567-3110)

Police reported Jan. 13 that they are investigating an attempted burglary in which someone attempted to open the door of an abandoned house on Ann Street, Duncannon, between Dec. 5 and Dec. 6. Police did not see any signs of forced entry.

Miller Lite beer cans and a trail camera were stolen from the back porch of a home on North High Street in Duncannon between Jan. 7 and Jan. 8.
