Carlisle Police (717-243-5252)
Simon Joseph Bowers, 30, of Carlisle, was charged with aggravated assault, aggravated assault by a prisoner, resisting arrest, public drunkenness and disorderly conduct after an incident at 10:30 p.m. Dec. 2 in the 100 block of North Bedford Street. Police said an officer saw Bowers who was highly intoxicated in public. The officer attempted to take him into custody, but he resisted arrest. The officer was injured, and police said Bowers also spit on an EMT when their services were called for Bowers. He posted $20,000 cash bail.
Justin James Harrison, 30, of Carlisle, was charged with receiving stolen property and possession of drug paraphernalia after police received a report of an unconscious person at 8:34 a.m. Nov. 24 in a vehicle in the 300 block of West Willow Street. Police said the driver and passenger were sleeping, and Harrison was found to have a warrant for his arrest. Police discovered several stolen items missing from Cumberland and Franklin counties inside the vehicle, as well as drug paraphernalia items. The other person in the vehicle, Lesley Bittinger, 34, of Dillsburg, was charged with receiving stolen property and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Lesley Bittinger also faces charges of receiving stolen property, forgery, identity theft, unauthorized access device use and driving while operating privileges are suspended/revoked after police received a report of a stolen vehicle in the 900 block of North West Street at 3:10 p.m. Nov. 24. The owner reported someone had taken the vehicle, which contained a firearm and a debit card. Police said Bittinger used the debit card throughout Carlisle and Mount Holly Springs. Police determined his identity using surveillance footage. The vehicle and firearm were located by Mount Holly Springs Police and returned to the owner.
Raheem Dajon Gray, 29, of Carlisle, was charged with possession of a controlled substance during an investigation in the 100 block of North Pitt Street at 9:55 a.m. Nov. 29. Police said Gray was found to be in possession of Oxycodone and Percocet packaged in cigarette cellophane. Police said Gray did not have a valid prescription for the drugs.
Middlesex Township Police (717-249-7191)
Michael Allen Cathey, 36, of Carlisle, was charged with simple assault and harassment after a domestic incident in the 700 block of MacArthur Drive on Dec. 1. Police said Cathey assaulted a person before fleeing the scene. He was found the next day and taken into custody. He posted $5,000 bail.
Shippensburg Police (717-532-7361)
Several items were stolen from a vehicle parked in the rear of the 200 block of East Garfield Street between 10 p.m. Nov. 30 and 8 a.m. Dec. 1. The items have since been recovered. Police seek information.
An Apple iPad mini was found in the street in the first block of West Burd Street on Nov. 29. The device can be claimed by contacting police.
State Police at Carlisle (717-249-2121)
Someone damaged the rear windshield wiper of a vehicle in the first block of Richard Avenue, Shippensburg Township, between Nov. 30 and 3:30 p.m. Dec. 3.
Someone took residential garbage cans from a residence in the 1000 block of Roxbury Road and the 100 block of Subdivision Road, Upper Mifflin Township, and scattered the contents in neighboring yards about 11 a.m. Dec. 4.
State Police at Newport (717-567-3110)
A Mechanicsburg woman was injured when police said she struck a parked car, mailbox and utility pole in the 400 block of East Main Street, Landisburg, at 12:01 p.m. Nov. 26. Police said Gina N. O’Donel was driving west on East Main Street in a 2015 Chevrolet Cruze when she traveled off the road and struck the mailbox, pole and car. O’Donel was transported to Harrisburg Hospital for medical treatment, and police said alcohol was a factor in the crash.
Herman R. Garman Sr., 65, of Newport, was charged with DUI general impairment and public drunkenness after police said he struck the rear of a parked car in the 400 block of South 4th Street in Newport at 9:37 p.m. Dec. 2. Police said Garman was driving a 1998 Mazda B3000SX south on South 4th Street when he struck the parked car. Garman was uninjured, but a passenger in the parked car, Richard F. Walborn, 48, of Newport, was injured and transported to Holy Spirit Hospital. There was no driver in the parked vehicle. Both vehicles were towed from the scene.
A 17-year-old from Loysville was injured when police said her 2004 Dodge Dakota veered off Shermans Valley Road in Centre Township and struck and sheared a utility pole at 4:35 p.m. Nov. 7, police reported Dec. 6.
Someone entered a home on Mahanoy Valley Road in Miller Township at 3:06 p.m. Nov. 3, took a photo, ripped the photo and threw it outside the front door before leaving, police reported Dec. 6. Police seek information.
Two people were injured in a two-vehicle crash in the 300 block of Old Limekiln Road, Miller Township, at 4:05 p.m. Nov. 22. Police said Ernest W. Kocher Jr., 49, of Newport, was traveling east in a 1994 Chevrolet Cavalier VL when he attempted to drive along a right curve in the road, crossed into the left lane, left the road and struck a fence. The vehicle continued into the yard and struck the rear of a 2004 Dodge Dakota that was stopped at a mailbox. Kocher was not injured, but the two occupants of the second vehicle, J.R. Heisey Jr., 77, of Newport, and Mary E. Halliday-Heisey, 63, of Newport, were injured. Both sought their own medical care. Police said Kocher left the scene prior to police arrival.
Fairview Township Police (717-901-5267)
Police are investigating reports of Christmas decoration thefts in the Green Lane Farms and Green Lane Manor neighborhoods. Police said the incidents were reported on Green Lane Drive, Equus Drive, Yellow Breeches Drive and Oak Drive. Police said thieves appear to be targeting a wide variety of decorations. Police urge residents to report suspicious activity.
A number of items including cash and DVDs were stolen from an apartment in the 500 block of Ross Avenue between Nov. 24 and Nov. 30. Police seek information.
