One man has been arrested as police departments in Cumberland and York counties investigate armed robberies between Wednesday night and Thursday morning.
Tyrie Miller, 33, of Dillsburg, was taken into custody Thursday and charged with felony robbery, misdemeanor theft and simple assault.
Sgt. David Smith of Carroll Township Police said Miller is a person of interest in all three robberies, though his arrest is connected to the robbery in Dillsburg Borough Thursday morning.
In that robbery of USA Gas and Tobacco Shop on North Baltimore Street, police said Miller entered the store at 6:53 a.m. Thursday, displayed a handgun and demanded money and cigarettes. He fled on foot with an undetermined amount of cash and the cigarettes, police said.
The clerk was uninjured, and Miller was later arrested by Carlisle Police and assisted by Lower Allen Township Police.
The two other armed robberies occurred in Cumberland County.
The first robbery occurred Wednesday at 9 p.m., when a man walked into the Supermart Convenience store in the 2000 block of West Trindle Road in South Middleton Township, brandished a knife and robbed the store, according to State Police at Carlisle.
The man in that case was wearing a gray sweatshirt, black jeans, black shoes and a blue bandanna that was covering his face, police said. He fled on foot toward Valley Street, according to police.
Another armed robbery took place early Thursday morning in Lower Allen Township.
In that case, Lower Allen Township Police said the robbery was at Turkey Hill on 5150 Simpson Ferry Road at 4:30 a.m. Police said the man entered the Turkey Hill, showed a handgun and told the clerk to give him money. The man was handed cash and then fled on foot, according to police.
There were no injuries in the incident, police said.
The suspect in the Lower Allen case is described as black, about 5-foot-6 to 5-foot-8, wearing dark pants, white sneakers, pink hoodie with a blue vest over it and a white or gray hoodie under the pink one.
Police are still investigating the incidents. Anyone with information about the South Middleton robbery should call state police at 717-249-2121, and anyone with information about the Lower Allen robbery should call 717-238-9676 or Cumberland County Crime Stoppers at 1-855-328-8477.
