State Police identified a man killed last week in a Franklin County crash.

Police said Timothy J. Butts, 28, of Quincy, was killed in a three-vehicle crash on Interstate 81 north in Guilford Township at 5:48 a.m. Feb. 8, which closed the highway for hours.

State Police at Chambersburg said Butts’ 2007 Honda Civic became disabled in the left lane after striking a guard wire in the grassy median of the highway.

John B. Clifton Jr., 60, of Christiansburg, Virginia, was driving a tractor-trailer in the left lane and did not see the disabled vehicle, which did not have its lights on. The tractor-trailer struck the vehicle, causing it to spin and strike a 2016 Ford F350 that was stopped on the berm to help with traffic control.

Butts was ejected from his vehicle in the crash and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Neither of the other drivers were injured. Police said the northbound lanes were closed for about 4½ hours during the crash investigation.
