A Carlisle man accidently shot himself while cleaning his gun early Sunday morning, according to Carlisle police.
The 36-year-old man went to a shooting range several weeks ago but only got around to cleaning his gun from the trip at 1 a.m. Sunday, police said.
The man did not know that there was a live round still inside the gun from when he had been at the range, according to police. As he began to clean it, he pulled the trigger and shot himself in the hand, losing part of his finger, police said.
The man was treated and released from Carlisle Regional Medical Center Sunday, according to police.
