Firefighters spent several hours on the scene of a garage fire Wednesday morning.

Crews were dispatched to the scene in the 800 block of Lisburn Road in South Middleton Township at 7:39 a.m., and the last unit left the scene at 12:29 p.m.

The fire broke out in a large, detached garage. Three vehicles and a recreational vehicle were involved in the fire. Specific information about the vehicles was not available.

Crews from Carlisle Fire and Rescue Services, Union Fire Company, Mount Holly Springs, North Middleton, Upper Allen, New Kingstown and Monroe Township responded to the scene along with fire police from Carlisle and Mount Holly Springs. Cumberland Goodwill EMS also assisted on the scene.

The fire closed Lisburn Road from South Middlesex to Shughart roads, and affected traffic in the 1700 block of West Trindle Road as tankers shuttled water to the scene. There are no fire hydrants in the area.

Black smoke from the fire could be seen from miles away.
