PennDOT Monday said its contractor will begin preliminary work on a project to repair and resurface a 2.34-mile section of Route 11/15/Enola Road from the intersection State Street to its intersection with Valley Road in East Pennsboro Township.
The $1.89 million contract was awarded on Dec. 27 to Blooming Glen Contractor Inc., of Bucks County. The project includes drainage work, base repair, removal of the top layer of asphalt, resurfacing the existing road, guardrail replacement and new signs and pavement markings.
Work is scheduled to be completed in mid- to late August.
The contractor will not restrict lanes during rush hour — between 6 a.m. and 8:30 a.m. and between 3:30 p.m. and 6 p.m.
Otherwise during daylight hours on weekdays, drivers may encounter shifting traffic patterns and a single-lane of travel in each direction as crews prepare for paving in the summer.
The section of Route 11/15 averages 14,500 vehicles daily.
