LEMOYNE — The Camp Curtin Historical Society will host its annual Civil War Days in Lemoyne on June 21 and 22 to commemorate the 151st anniversary of the Gettysburg Campaign.
The re-enactor camp will be open from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. June 21 and 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. June 22.
Cooper’s Pennsylvania Artillery Battery will camp at Lemoyne’s Negley Park and conduct cannon firing demonstrations at 1 and 3 p.m. June 21 and 1:30 p.m. June 22. One of the highlights of the weekend will be the evening cannon firing at 9 p.m. June 21.
Prior to the evening cannon firing on June 21, the Victorian Dance Ensemble will conduct a Civil War Family Dance from 6 to 8 p.m.
The public is invited to attend, and neither period attire nor dance experience is required. After the dance, local historian James Schmick will present a slide presentation on the monuments of Gettysburg.
There also will be displays of original Civil War weapons and other artifacts, as well as presentations on local Civil War history.
All programs are free.
