NEW BLOOMFIELD - Crews are at the scene of a fire at a PPL substation in New Bloomfield, Perry County, this evening.
A transformer exploded at the plant Tuesday afternoon. Emergency crews closed Route 34, clearing the way for fire trucks.
PPL said so far there have been no power outages.
It's taking crews longer to put out the fire because officials need foam to put it out; water won't work.
Perry County doesn't have enough foam on hand, so authorities are waiting on a delivery from Cumberland County.
