Associates from 60 branch locations and the corporate offices of Members 1st Federal Credit Union raised $5,000, which will go to the Sgt. Adam C. Schoeller USMC Memorial Fund Inc.
The money was raised through a weeklong Halloween decoration and costume contest/fundraiser, which is a longstanding tradition at the credit union. Members 1st chooses a charity each year to receive the funds.
Schoeller was a local Marine who died during a training mission in Hawaii in January 2016. The organization distributes funds to groups that provide direct services and support to members of the military and their families.
The check was presented to the family Friday at the Walnut Bottom Road branch in Carlisle.
“Members 1st was established in 1950 on the Navy Supply Depot in Mechanicsburg and has a well-established history of serving military families,” said George Nahodil, president and CEO of Members 1st. “The Sgt. Adam C. Schoeller USMC Memorial Fund Inc. could not be a more fitting organization for us to support.”
