What is the status of the old Bonanza Steakhouse building on Walnut Bottom Road in South Middleton Township?
Fire destroyed the Bonanza Steakhouse in the 900 block of Walnut Bottom Road in South Middleton Township in October 2013.
But the location is expected to get new life in the near future with the construction of a steakhouse known as Walnut Bottom Road Keystone Steak and Seafood. Construction is in progress.
In September RB Investments and Madden Engineering Services received a formal waiver to bypass the land development plans for the site.
Township supervisor Tom Faley said at the time that the waiver was requested because the developer planned to construct a new steakhouse of approximately the same size in the same location.
The property was sold to RB Investments in December for $950,000.
The new roughly 7,700-square-foot steakhouse, with parking for 95 vehicles, is expected to open as early as this summer, Faley said in January.
The restaurant will have room to seat 250 people and will be able to employ about 22 people.
Plans for a building permit were submitted by McCoy Bros. Inc. in March.
The site had been a potential home to a Sheetz, but those plans fell through because of concerns about traffic and the environment.
