Northwest Lancaster County Regional Police identified the woman in the fatal house fire as Judy Risser, 47.

Police responded to 365 Hershey Road in Mt. Joy Township for a reported house fire. Police arrived on the scene to find the house full of smoke and fire.

Attempts to rescue Risser, who was inside the home, was unsuccessful, police said. After the fire was extinguished, police discovered her inside.

Police and members of the State Police Fire investigators are attempting to determine the cause of the fire.

Police ask anyone with information to call them at 367-8481.

ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. (WHTM) - One woman died this morning in a house fire in Elizabethtown, according to Northwest Regional Police Chief Mark Mayberry.

Mayberry said the woman's boyfriend attempted to rescue her but was not successful.

The fire in the 300 block of Hershey Road, also known as Route 743, was reported at 8:15 a.m. Crews have successfully put out the fire but it was, at one time, a two-alarm blaze.

Route 743 was shut down at the intersection with Route 283.
